Fashion Shows - Lakme Fashion Week Spring Summer ‘09

Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) is a joint initiative by Lakme and IMG, the global leader in fashion weeks and event production. Lakme Fashion Week has been conceived and created with a vision to "Integrate India into the global fashion world and redefine the future of fashion". Both Lakme and IMG have been pivotal to the success of the Lakme India Fashion Week over the previous six years.

Every season Lakme Fashion Week unfolds new initiatives to introduce international trends to continue making it a premier fashion event. Launch of international brands, international and renowned media guests - Ms Suzy Menkes, the world’s favourite fashion editor – International Herald Tribune and Elyse Kroll, founder of the world’s largest trade fair – Coterie, creative team of stylists, new model figures, choreographers, venue directors, shows, continued to position Lakme Fashion Week as a world class event.

Lakme Fashion Week focuses on the retail scene in India while continuing to integrate India into the Global Fashion world. With Lakme Fashion Week designers showcasing at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, it continues the tradition and most recently had selected five of its designers who showed at Coterie in September, 2008 – the world’s largest and most exclusive fashion trade show held in New York.

Lakme Fashion Week Spring Summer ‘09 will exclusively host the ‘MENSWEAR DAY’ to nurture and promote the growing trends in men’s fashion. This new initiative will see an entire day dedicated to Menswear. Another exciting initiative in the forthcoming season of LFW is a Group Accessory Designer Show. LFW continues its endeavor to discover and encourage fresh designers who possess the talent through the Gen Next and Emerging Designer Category shows.
Another new initiative this season at LFW is the bringing alive of a unique synergy between art & fashion to showcase how both reflect visual creations with color and form The ‘ArtStudio’ a new dimension to Lakmé Fashion Week, is the stepping stone for India towards creating such a dynamic synthesis Fashionistas as well as art connoisseurs’ can feast their eyes on some exquisite creations by 20 renowned artists’ interpretation of fashion through their art The exquisite art collection will be displayed during Lakmé Fashion Week, at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) on a wall mounted gallery.
